Turtle TED talk assignment response
I limit my
use of technology, which I do find ironic being a tech writer and programmer.
Turkle mentions how her and her daughter sleep with their cellphones. In our
household, the very thought of this is hard to fathom. I do understand why
people choose to do this, they want to remain connected - but, ironically, run
the risk of potentially isolating themselves in the process. For me, I value my
smartphone – but more so because of the fact that it cost money - while I may
wonder where I left it at times, it is mostly due to the monetary costs
associated with replacing it.
I limit my use of technology too, for example, when I am with my family I try to turn off my phone for me not to get distracted by it and miss the bonding with my familiy. But at the same time I do need my phone to make me up in the morning. The limits is what is most important.
